Tyler Perry is donating $2.75 million to help older homeowners stay in their homes in Atlanta.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Perry spoke with Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens about helping low-income homeowners who could lose their houses due to rising real estate taxes.
Among Forbes‘ world’s highest-paid entertainers, Perry plans to pay for the back property taxes of 300 low-income seniors.
In addition to covering city, county, and school taxes, he will also cover any increase in taxes for 100 low-income seniors over the next 20 years.
To ensure that the residents don’t pay additional property taxes, he has already donated $750,000 for the first year to cover the back taxes and any rise in property taxes.  He has further vowed to donate $500,000 annually for the following four years.
