Tyrese Gibson and his former spouse, Samantha Lee, engaged in a public exchange on social media regarding Gibson’s recent guest appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast.
Earlier this week, Tyrese appeared on Budden’s podcast, discussing the aftermath of his relationship with Lee. Upon learning of Tyrese’s interview, Lee expressed her disapproval on Instagram, criticizing her former husband for publicly discussing their private matters.
“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me,” Lee said. “You can learn a lot about people by how they respond/react to certain boundaries you set. The funny thing is, some people KNOW how they were doing you (probably worse than you even found out about in the moment) and yet you become the horrible person, the villain, in their story because you decided to set a boundary.”
Shortly thereafter, Tyrese took to Instagram to respond, alleging that Lee was seeking attention and suggested that she should consider changing her last name.
“She wants to be famous, she wants the clout. She had a whole baby and faked a whole marriage to get the BAG. 3 law firms later. Just hear her out guys,” he wrote. “She hates my guts and yet her drivers license still says Gibson. Can you please run me my last name back? Soraya can keep it that our angel. Your trash ass birth name is Samantha Schwalenberg.”
Additionally, Tyrese disclosed that the backlash from his interview with Budden has had an impact on his relationship with his current girlfriend.
“The Joe Budden Podcast has officially burned down the internet,” Tyrese wrote. “Fellas if you wanna still be married or have a girl for Christmas keep her away from this interview. My girl is mad at me about the podcast and after five months, she pulled out the vibrator and used it last night.”
The former couple initially tied the knot in 2017 and separated nearly four years later in 2020, after which their situation became quite complicated. In 2021, Lee requested a monthly child support payment of $20,000 from her former spouse for their daughter. In response to what he deemed as his ex-wife’s “unreasonable” divorce demands, Tyrese filed a motion to put a stop to them.
Samantha later posted that the video was not a response to anything, “Yall this clip was inspired by a Bishop TD JAKES clip (clip is in my story) not in response to anything! People are trying to connect dots that are absolutely unrelated. I truly desire peace.”
