Tyrese is feeling every emotion possible as his daughter Shayla prepares to leave home and start her next chapter. The singer and actor took to Instagram with a heartfelt message reflecting on prom season, graduation, and officially becoming an empty nester after years of raising his firstborn in the spotlight.
The emotional Instagram post came as Tyrese revealed Shayla secured a full ride for college while also preparing for graduation next week. At the same time, he shared that he recently put his Los Angeles home up for sale, signaling that major life changes are happening all at once.
“Wiping sweat….Prom night in the can, a full ride for college solidified, just put my house up for sale in LA I’m officially an empty nester,” he wrote. “Graduation is next week and life is going to be very very different from this moment forth.”
Still, Tyrese made it clear that beyond the luxury lifestyle Shayla experienced growing up, the values he instilled in her matter most. “There is no such thing as an Iced out WATCH chain or pulling up. In a Rolls-Royce that would make my daughter like you because of your car or what’s on your wrist,” he wrote. “The only thing that will ever impress my baby girl is heart, integrity and a beautiful soul.”
He continued praising Shayla’s independence, intelligence, and faith while encouraging her to step confidently into adulthood.
“Spread your wings #MyShayla and get out of here and show them all that daddy instilled in you,” he added. “You will be more powerful and impactful than your father ever was.”
