U.S. Says it is Prepared to Use Military Force Against North Korea, If Necessary

On Wednesday, the United States revealed it was ready to use military force to stop North Korea’s missile test if need be. However, the country maintained that it would rather join forces with global leaders in its fight against Pyongyang.

“One of our capabilities lies with our considerable military forces. We will use them if we must, but we prefer not to have to go in that direction,” United Nations Nikki Haley said in a meeting of the U.N. Security Council, encouraging North Korea’s allies to put an end to the nation’s antics.

Haley revealed that the nation’s capital was prepared to severe business ties with all countries that choose to do business with North Korea, amid the nation’s tests, including North Korea’s major ally, China. The country also considered harsher sanctions on North Korea, which would be revealed in the next few days, she revealed.

“Much of the burden of enforcing U.N. sanctions rests with China,” Haley said. “We will work with China; we will work with any and every country that believes in peace. But we will not repeat the inadequate approaches of the past that have brought us to this dark day,” she added, revealing that the nation’s capital was prepared to severe business ties with all countries that choose to do business with North Korea, amid the nation’s defiance.

However, China’s U.N. ambassador called the missile test a “flagrant violation,” despite the country’s ties to North Korea.

“We call on all the parties concerned to exercise restraint, avoid provocative actions and belligerent rhetoric, demonstrate the will for unconditional dialogue and work actively together to defuse the tension.”
