Baltimore County police say an Uber driver has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged rape of a 25 year old woman. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
According to investigators, a ride was ordered to take the woman home at around 10:30 p.m. on June 1. When she did not make it home on time, her father reportedly used a phone app to find her location. Police say she was found in a Baltimore County neighborhood near West Timonium Road.
Police say the father walked up to a parked car and opened the door. He reportedly found his daughter in the back seat appearing visibly upset, with the driver also in the back seat. An argument followed, and police say the driver, identified as Joshua, punched the father, threw the woman’s purse out of the car and drove away.
Police say Joshua was arrested on Thursday and charged with second degree rape, third degree sex offense, fourth degree sex offense and two counts of second degree assault. He was reportedly being held without bond at the Baltimore County Department of Corrections.
Uber called the allegations appalling, said it removed the driver from the app as soon as the company was notified, and said it will work with police on their investigation. Baller Alert did not find a public response from Joshua at the time of this report.
