The United Airlines employee who slapped a former NFL player at Newark Airport has been fired.

The viral altercation between ex-Denver Broncos cornerback Brendan Langley and the unidentified former employee took place on Thursday inside the New Jersey airport. The fight began when Langley used a wheelchair to transport his luggage instead of a luggage cart. An exchange of words ensued, and the worker in his United Airlines uniform came from behind the counter to confront Langley. In one clip, the worker is seen slapping the 27-year-old athlete, who unleashes several strong punches, sending the employee falling. His face is seen bloodied as he lays on the floor. He then stumbles back to his feet to confront Langley once again, who is heard yelling, “You want some more? He wants some more!”

Langley was ultimately arrested and charged with simple assault. He has since been suspended indefinitely from the Calgary Stampeders, a team with the Canadian Football League. Langley signed with the franchise in February.

Langley’s attorney, Alan Jackson, says his client was “minding his business walking through the airport” when the staffer called him several names, including “d***’ and a “p***y.”

The employee was terminated, but no charges have been filed against him. Langley maintains that he was acting in self-defense.
