Another incident has shaken the U.S. aviation industry, this time involving a United Airlines flight.

Passengers on a United Airlines flight from Houston to New York were forced to evacuate before takeoff Sunday due to an engine issue, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Houston Fire Department, which responded to the scene, confirmed that no injuries were reported.
The FAA stated that takeoff was “safely aborted” following a “reported engine issue,” adding, “Passengers deplaned on the runway and were bused to the terminal.” United Airlines also confirmed the emergency, explaining that passengers exited the aircraft “via a combination of slides and stairs.”
Videos captured by passengers reveal the chaos inside the plane. One clip showed thick smoke filling the cabin, while another depicted passengers sliding down the evacuation chute.
Kelcie Davis, a passenger aboard the flight, described the terrifying ordeal in a TikTok post.
“Engine blew out right as our wheels were leaving the ground,” she recalled. “Plane lost control on the runway for a few seconds, but thank god our pilot was able to get the plane back under control. Only one slide was working for the entire plane to evacuate.”
The dramatic evacuation adds to a series of recent aviation scares in the U.S., raising renewed concerns about aircraft safety. The FAA is investigating the incident as passengers recount their harrowing experience.
