UPS has announced it will hire more than 100,000 workers to help with the upcoming holiday season.
It’s the time of the year again when companies across the country begin ramping up their staff numbers to get all the help they need for the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. On Wednesday, UPS said it would be hiring for full-time and part-time seasonal roles, with most positions for package handlers, drivers and driver assistants.
While the roles may be seasonal at first, that doesn’t mean there won’t be room to grow into a permanent position. UPS says roughly 35 percent of its hired seasonal workers get hired permanently. Seasonal drivers start off with $21 per hour, and tractor drivers could see up to $35 per hour, AP reports. Package handlers’ pay range can be anywhere between $15 and $21 an hour.
According to Danelle McCuster Reese, the president of human relations at UPS, the hiring process takes about 25 minutes to complete.
