USC RB Anthony Brown Quits Team, Says Coach Is Racist

Just days after Josh Shaw was suspended indefinitely for lying about an injury, more drama is brewing on the USC football team. This time it is their running back, Anthony Brown, who is making headlines. Well, let me say FORMER running back, because Brown has officially quit the team saying he “couldn’t play for a racist man.”

The man he is referring to is Coach Steve Sarkisian. “Sark treated me like a slave in his office. Can’t play for a racist man,” Brown posted to his Instagram page before quickly deleting it. According to Brown, he walked into Sark’s office to talk about where he stood with the team (since he’s been injured) and didn’t appreciate the way Sark was speaking to him.

“I called a meeting up with this disrespectful guy!!! He called me a coward, all types of f**k words. When I walked in the room he said, ‘You have the f**king guts to walk in here, Coward.  The way he was talking to me … it was like a slave master talking to his slave. He stereotype my mom and dad. like he belittle me to another level. I just responded Yes Sir and No Sir! Never been treated like that before!! Don’t Wish it upon anyone! That’s who he is!” Brown then says that Coach Sark eventually told him to “get the f**k out of his office.”

I don’t know….this sounds like any college coach talking to their players. This is how coaches talk. Anyone who’s ever played football in college, or even went to the military knows, this is just the way things are. Coaches are condescending, like drill sergeants, but it’s to toughen you up. There’s no room for being soft in football. Brown has yet to provide anything “racist” that was said. He said that the coach did not use the N-word or any racial slur, but it was his “tone.”

USC Defensive Tackle Antwaun Woods took to social media to defend Coach Sark saying, “Coach Sark is a great person/Coach! Please disregard comments that have been made by someone.”

Going strictly off what was provided, it sounds to me like Brown just needs to man up. I’ve had high school coaches tear me a new a-hole worse than that. Considering Brown is a senior, he may not have wanted to make any waves until after the season was over. Then again, if he was inquiring about his standing on the team, he probably wasn’t going to be on the team for much longer anyway.

USC is having a terrible week.
