The USC admissions investigation is reportedly growing. According to TMZ, university officials are now looking at whether to revoke the degrees of alumni who may have gained admission through fraud tied to Rick Singer, the figure at the center of the federal college admissions case.
TMZ reported that USC officials believe there are eight cases of alumni who may have used Singer’s services. According to the outlet, all eight involved the athletic placement method, the same approach prosecutors have alleged in cases against other families, including actress Lori Loughlin, who has been charged. Those charges are allegations.
TMZ also reported that one alumnus contacted the university on his own and said he cheated on the ACT with Singer’s help. The outlet said the school will reportedly not take action against him because he came forward. TMZ added that the university looked into at least one current student’s admission and concluded Singer’s services were legitimate in that case.
USC officials are also said to be interviewing members of the athletic staff beyond those already indicted. The school is reportedly working with the U.S. Attorney and the FBI.
