E-40 Reveals He’s Been Sitting on Unreleased Tupac Verses for Decades

E-40 is sitting on music that Tupac Shakur fans have never heard. The Bay Area rap legend recently revealed that he has unreleased Tupac verses in his personal archive, including material recorded before their well-known collaborations in the 1990s.

During an October 12 appearance on “The Questlove Show,” E-40 opened up about his history with the late rapper after Questlove asked whether he had any unheard recordings featuring Tupac, Mac Dre, or B-Legit.

“I got maybe one or two Tupac verses in an archive,” E-40 said.

Although he didn’t reveal the titles or play any of the recordings, his comments confirmed that at least some of his musical history with Tupac remains out of the public eye.

E-40 also recalled working with Tupac at Studio Tone in Vallejo, California, explaining that they recorded music together before their collaboration “Dusted ’N’ Disgusted” reached fans in 1995.

According to his account on the podcast, the two created an earlier recording that never received an official release. That detail is significant because it suggests their recording history extends beyond the songs that eventually appeared on their respective albums.

Their most recognizable early collaboration, “Dusted ’N’ Disgusted,” appeared on E-40’s 1995 album “In a Major Way.” The song featured Tupac alongside Mac Mall and Spice 1, bringing together several influential voices from Northern California’s rap scene.

According to the album’s published credits, Mike Mosley and Sam Bostic produced the track, which became one of the notable collaborations from that chapter of E-40’s career.

The story behind its creation offers another glimpse into Tupac’s approach to recording.

In a 2010 interview with The Urban Daily, E-40 recalled traveling to Los Angeles with Mac Mall, Spice 1, and producer Mike Mosley to work on the song. He explained that Tupac was immediately drawn to the beat and wrote his verse in approximately 20 minutes.

That same creative energy came up during his latest conversation with Questlove.

“Tupac was too quick, man,” E-40 said.

He remembered Tupac finishing his lyrics while other artists were still working on theirs. Rather than remaining in one studio room, Tupac would reportedly move between rooms to check on the progress of other recordings.

Those memories add another layer to the stories surrounding Tupac’s legendary recording pace. For E-40, that speed was something he witnessed firsthand while working alongside an artist whose catalog continues to influence generations.

Their musical relationship also extended beyond that 1995 collaboration.

In 1996, Tupac appeared alongside B-Legit on E-40’s “Million Dollar Spot,” which was included on “Tha Hall of Game.” The album arrived on October 29, 1996, with the collaboration becoming another documented piece of their recording history.

E-40 also contributed to Tupac’s landmark double album “All Eyez on Me,” released February 13, 1996.

The song “Ain’t Hard 2 Find” featured E-40, Richie Rich, B-Legit, and C-Bo. According to the album’s production credits, Mike Mosley and Rick Rock produced the track, further connecting Tupac’s music to the Bay Area artists and producers working alongside him.

That connection mattered because E-40 was building his own independent movement long before the industry fully recognized his influence.

The Vallejo rapper established Sick Wid It Records and helped distribute music through independent retailers before expanding his reach through Jive Records.

His relationship with Tupac reflected an era when regional rap communities were developing their identities while collaborating across California.

Now, three decades later, the revelation about unreleased Tupac verses raises questions about what else could be preserved in E-40’s collection.

However, the rapper did not confirm whether the recordings are complete songs, isolated verses, or unfinished studio material. He also offered no release date or indication that the music is being prepared for an official project.

The revelation arrives as E-40 continues making new music. During the same Questlove interview, he discussed “Turning My Money Over,” an ambitious 40-song project planned across four installments. There was no indication that the archived Tupac recordings would be included.

For fans, the discovery is significant even without a release announcement. Tupac’s voice remains an important part of hip hop history, and recordings from artists who worked with him personally can offer valuable insight into his creative process.

Whether the unreleased Tupac verses ever reach streaming platforms remains uncertain, but E-40’s latest revelation confirms that another piece of their musical history is still waiting to be heard.
