Summer Walker is clearing the air after a fan shared a video of her walking into a corner store in Chicago late at night following her show.
After the clip started making rounds online, some social media users questioned why the singer was out in public wearing a robe, bonnet and slippers. Walker eventually responded directly to a fan who asked about the situation, explaining that she wasn’t doing anything unusual.
“Minding my business … Went to the corner store to me a pack a cigs & some duce after work,” Walker wrote in her reply.
The singer later expanded on her thoughts, saying the attention surrounding the moment felt strange considering how ordinary the situation was.
“I literally ain’t even know that man walking next to me he just decided to pay for my stuff, & I walked back to my Telly alone n went to bed. This celebrity s**t too weird, you can’t even walk to the corner store with out going viral.”
According to Walker, the interaction was nothing more than a quick stop after work. She explained that she did not know the man seen walking beside her and said he voluntarily paid for her items before she headed back to her hotel by herself.
Her response quickly sparked conversation online, with many fans defending her right to run everyday errands without becoming a viral topic. Others pointed out that her appearance reflected exactly how many people look during a late-night convenience store run.
For Walker, the bigger issue appeared to be how quickly routine moments can become internet content when you’re a public figure. What started as a quick trip to grab a few items after her show turned into another reminder that even the most ordinary celebrity moments rarely stay private for long.
