Some good news for unvaccinated party goers, Coachella will no longer require a vaccine for individuals to attend the music festival.
The festival published the change on its website, emphasizing that participants can enter with proof of a negative COVID test within 72 hours of arrival instead of the vaccine.
“After seeing first-hand the low transmission data and successful implementation of safety protocols at our festivals recently … we feel confident that we can safely update our policy for Coachella,” the post read.
The decision is a complete U-turn from AEG Presents, which said in August that all ticket attending their events must be vaccinated starting Oct. 1.
“We have come to the conclusion that, as a market leader, it was up to us to take a real stand on vaccination status,” said Jay Marciano, chief operating officer of AEG and chairman and CEO of AEG Presents. “Just a few weeks ago, we were optimistic about where our business and country, were heading. The Delta variant, combined with vaccine hesitancy, is pushing us in the wrong direction again.”
Coachella is set to begin from April 15-17 and April 22-24 of next year.
