Kerry, the man who was injured in the shooting that killed Nipsey Hussle, is expected to be released from custody after officials arrested him for a parole violation, according to ABC.
The shooting happened March 31 outside Hussle’s Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles. Kerry was hit in the back near his spine, was hospitalized and treated, and was reportedly temporarily in a wheelchair because of his injuries. Less than two weeks later, he was arrested at his halfway house. Officials reportedly accused him of violating his terms by associating with a known gang member, a reference to Hussle.
The arrest drew backlash online, and many people renewed calls for probation and parole reform. Meek Mill, who has spoken publicly about his own experience with probation, also weighed in on the situation.
Now, per ABC, less than a week after the arrest, Kerry is expected to go free. The violation was reportedly set to be dropped, and the Department of Corrections was working to arrange his release.
