Diddy threw ice at a man and hit him with racial and homophobic slurs at Compound in Atlanta because the man was drinking Grey Goose instead of Ciroc.
Diddy and T.I. were hosting the party at the Atlanta club Saturday night after the BET Hip Hop Awards. Diddy spotted clubgoer Ricky Parker with a bottle of Grey Goose and got on the mic. “Put that [expletive] down,” he told him. “You in my house.”
It did not stop there. Diddy threw ice at Parker, threatened to fight him, and called him racial and homophobic slurs in front of the whole club. All of it over vodka. Diddy is the face of Ciroc, and he clearly takes that job personally.
T.I. was the one who stepped in. Tip had just gotten home from a halfway house and was not trying to be anywhere near a situation. He told Diddy he had way too much money to be acting like that. T.I. later went on Atlanta’s Wild 105.7 to clear the air. He said he was trying to defuse it before it turned into a problem for him, and that he spoke up out of love for Diddy, not to embarrass him.
By Tuesday, Diddy was on Twitter apologizing. He said he was sorry for the ignorant way he represented himself and admitted he had “backslid and regressed.” He asked people to forgive him and pray for him, and he said he knows better and is better than that. He also promised to humble himself and learn.
Ricky Parker isn’t accepting it. He told TMZ he felt “humiliated and disrespected” by Diddy. He said he couldn’t believe Diddy came at him that hard over nothing more than the brand of vodka in his hand.
Parker made it clear Diddy lost a supporter that night. “You won’t ever hear me support him from this moment forward,” he said.
This isn’t the first time Diddy has gone to war for Ciroc. He has spent years talking down every other vodka on the shelf. This time he did it to a paying customer in the middle of the club, and it got ugly fast.
