A Colorado Black teen has been fatally shot by two white police officers while running away.

New surveillance footage shows 19-year-old DeVon Bailey running away from the scene of a reported robbery in Colorado Springs at around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. While trying to flee the pursuit of the officers he was shot from behind. After his body hit the ground, police proceeded to handcuff him.

A third officer then came to the scene, dropped an unknown object on the ground, and appeared to perform CPR on Bailey. Bailey was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, the reports said. Officers have yet to release their body cam footage, but the incident was caught by an apartment complex’s surveillance camera.

According to New York Post, officers were dispatched to a report of a robbery on East Fountain Boulevard when police said they encountered Bailey and another man. Police claim one of the men reached for a weapon. However, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into incident. Bailey’s death has since sparked protests and outrage at Colorado Springs City Hall. However, Mayor John Suthers has asked citizens to be patient while the probe is conducted.

“We know that there can be frustration with the time this takes, but we cannot compromise the investigation by failing to spend the appropriate time gathering facts,” Newsweek quoted the mayor as saying in a report Wednesday.
