Pebbelz Da Model, the Memphis video model best known for her famous curves, has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman who received illegal butt injections.
The model, whose real name is Natasha Stewart, was picked up in Memphis on Thursday on a fugitive from justice warrant. She is wanted in Mississippi in connection with the death of Karima Gordon, a 37 year old aspiring model from Atlanta.
According to authorities, Gordon traveled to Jackson, Mississippi, in March 2012 to get buttocks injections from someone who was not a licensed medical professional. She got sick within hours and died days later at a hospital in Georgia. Investigators say the silicone like substance she was injected with caused blood clots in her lungs. The person accused of performing the injections has already been charged with murder.
Investigators believe Gordon was connected to that person through a woman she met online who went by “Pebbles,” and that Gordon paid her a referral fee. Police say that woman is Stewart.
Stewart was arrested along with a friend, and both are being held at the Shelby County Jail in Tennessee while she waits to be sent to Mississippi.
Pebbelz has appeared in rap videos and urban magazines for years, and her body has been her brand. That’s what makes this case so hard to look at. Women are risking their lives chasing that same look in somebody’s house instead of a doctor’s office, and Karima Gordon paid for it with hers. No body is worth that.
