Virgin Australia Is Giving Its Passengers A Chance To Win Thousands In A Lottery, But They Have To Enter By Getting A Middle Seat

Sydney, Australia - October 7, 2013: Virgin Australia Airlines Boeing 737 airliner landing at Sydney Airport.

In hopes of getting more people to choose the middle seat, Virgin Australia is launching a “Middle Seat Lottery.”

Hate the middle seat but love any opportunity to get some money? Well, this special raffle Virgin Australia is offering might pique your interest. The airline’s new Middle Seat Lottery gives passengers a chance to win $145,000, but the only way to enter is by choosing a middle seat voluntarily or getting stuck with one involuntarily, CNN reports.

“Virgin Australia is an airline that’s doing things differently ,and we are having a lot of fun coming up with exciting innovations to make every part of the travel experience more wonderful,” said Jayne Hrdlicka, the chief executive officer of Virgin Australia Group, in a press release, CNN reports.

“Now we’re giving our loyal guests the opportunity to win from a prize pool valued at over $230,000 for simply sitting in a middle seat.”

And money isn’t the only prize; passengers could also be awarded paid holiday stays, a helicopter pub crawl and more. The opportunity will only be available from now until April 23, 2023.
