Racist Right Wing Agitator Jake Lang Pulled Up to the BET Awards With a “Black Parents Are Failures” Sign and Got Run Off the Block

Jake Lang showed up to the BET Awards looking for a war and left getting chased down the street with water flying at his back. On Sunday, June 28, 2026, the pardoned January 6 rioter turned right wing agitator rolled up outside the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where Black culture had gathered to celebrate itself, and tried to turn one of the biggest nights in entertainment into his personal hate rally. It did not go how he planned.

Here is what he brought. Jake Lang and a small group of supporters pulled up to the BET Awards with a black truck and a stack of signs, one of which read “Black parents are failures.” Others on the scene reportedly held placards pushing the death penalty, including one calling for executing gay people. Lang himself stood out front in a bulletproof vest stamped with an American flag, using racial slurs and stereotypes to berate people heading into the show. He had hyped the whole thing as a crusade against what he called degenerate Black culture, promising a boycott with hundreds of so called crusaders. What actually showed up was Lang and a handful of guys.

The neighborhood handled it. As clips spread across X from News2Share and from Lang’s own phone, you can watch the scene turn on him fast. A crowd formed, someone threw water on him, somebody hurled one of his own banners back at him, and a voice can be heard yelling “keep running” as the black truck pulled off. Footage circulating under the caption of Jake Lang getting kicked away shows him scrambling to retreat while the very people he came to provoke ran him off the block. The man who promised a movement got escorted out of LA by a counter crowd that wanted no parts of him.

Then came the part that tells you everything. Instead of owning that he instigated all of it, Jake Lang ran straight to his phone and posted that he had “just nearly been MURDERED,” comparing the people who confronted him to wild animals. He claimed he was bleeding. He claimed a bottle was smashed on him. He claimed he was injured. None of it was on camera. No blood, no bottle, and no arrests reported. He came to a Black celebration in a bulletproof vest waving signs that insulted Black families, got run off, and immediately recast himself as the victim. Right on cue.

None of this is new for him. This is a man federal prosecutors say was caught on video repeatedly swinging a baseball bat at police officers during the January 6 Capitol attack. He was charged with assaulting an officer and sat in jail awaiting trial for roughly four years before Donald Trump handed him a full pardon in 2025. Jake Lang turned that pardon into a personal brand, ran as a Republican primary candidate for the US Senate seat in Florida that Marco Rubio vacated, and has spent his freedom chasing cameras and conflict ever since.

The ugliest chapter came just weeks ago. Lang latched onto the case of Karmelo Anthony, the Black teenager charged in the stabbing death of classmate Austin Metcalf, and tried to use that tragedy to stir racial hate, even as Metcalf’s own family publicly condemned what he was doing. On June 10, after already being ordered to stay away from the courthouse, he livestreamed outside the Collin County Courthouse in Texas and openly threatened to assassinate Anthony with a “headshot.” Officers pulled him off a plane on the tarmac and booked him into Dallas County Jail on a felony charge of making terroristic threats. His bond was first set at one million dollars, then lowered to $250,000, and he got out only about a week before he turned up at the BET Awards.

So the real question is not what a probation officer thinks, because the January 6 case ended in a pardon. The real question is what the judge in his open felony case thinks. This is a man free on bond for threatening to put a bullet in a Black teenager’s head, and barely a week later he is back in public, in a vest, waving signs that call Black parents failures outside a celebration of Black excellence. Plenty of people are now openly wondering whether his bond conditions were supposed to cover flying to another state to incite a crowd.

The BET Awards went on without him. Cardi B performed, Teyana Taylor accepted Icon of the Year, Druski hosted his first show, and Black culture did what it always does, which is celebrate itself loudly and keep it moving. Jake Lang got exactly what he came for, which was attention, and exactly what he did not expect, which was a crowd that refused to be his backdrop. He drove off swearing he was nearly killed. The footage just shows a man running.
