Comedian Wayne Brady was the victim of a racist caller who went on an unprovoked rant.
The nasty message was left on a voicemail answering machine at CBS Studios in L.A.’s Fairfax District, where the actor hosts “Let’s Make a Deal.” In the nine-second clip obtained by TMZ, the vulgar caller is heard calling Brady a “f***ing n*****” and bashing the host for no apparent reason. It remains unclear what prompted the caller to reach out to the studio, but it is clear that the attack was aimed solely at the 49-year-old star.
During a sit down with “TMZ Live” after the recording had already made its way to the net, Brady says that multiple people reached out to him with words of encouragement, including “The Talk” host Cheryl Underwood. Nevertheless, he says he is not worried about the caller nor their hateful rant. Brady explained that the caller’s use of the n-word was not uncommon to African Americans, nor would it ruin his day.
“You think that’s clever? You think that’s something that any Black person walking in this country right now hasn’t heard? You are the least of my worries. You can kiss my a**,” he said, speaking directly to the hostile caller.
CBS security immediately notified the LAPD after hearing the message. Luckily, they were able to rule out the possibility of a threat against Brady.
