Webbie was arrested in Baton Rouge early Thursday morning after a woman accused him of kicking her down two flights of stairs and taking $340 from her purse.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ, the incident happened at a Chase Suite Hotel, where the rapper had reportedly already been banned. The woman told police Webbie attacked her, kicked her down two sets of stairs, then grabbed her purse and took the cash. Police arrested him at the scene around 2:30 a.m. on battery and robbery charges.
Webbie, whose real name is Webster Gradney, says it didn’t happen that way. His rep told TMZ he met the woman at a party the night before and never attacked her. The rep admits Webbie did take money out of her purse, but says it was his money to begin with and that she had taken it from him.
Webbie was released later Thursday on a $9,000 bond, and his team says he plans to fight the charges.
It has been a rough stretch for the Trill Entertainment rapper. He has been open about struggling while his partner Lil Boosie remains locked up, and now he has a robbery case to deal with on top of it.
