For days, there has been talk of a mystery tape said to involve Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant. The tape has not been released, and no one has confirmed what it shows or that it exists.
On February 26, 2015, a possible lead emerged. As reported by Pro Football Talk, the City of Lancaster, Texas police department gave NFL Media a July 2011 incident report through the Texas Public Information Act. The report covers a police response to a Lancaster Wal-Mart. It is not known whether this is connected to the rumored tape.
According to the report, a caller told police that a woman was being dragged from one vehicle to another by a man. The first vehicle was a Mercedes registered to Bryant. A security guard said the Mercedes door was open when he arrived, but no one was there. Later, an Escalade registered to Bryant pulled up, followed by a Bentley carrying the woman and Bryant.
The woman told police she had an argument with a man, that she was not assaulted or injured, and that it was just an argument. The responding officer determined there was no offense, and no arrests were made. TMZ also reported that Bryant was questioned but not arrested. The report does not mention any surveillance video.
Coverage of the report did not include a statement from Bryant. For now, the report shows a closed case with no offense found, and the tape question is still open.
