A video that went viral in early March 2019 is drawing backlash in Hoover, Alabama. It reportedly shows students from Spain Park High School making racist and antisemitic remarks, including talk of harming Black people. The district says the students will not be disciplined.
The clip was posted online by Mallory, who shared the full recording. According to AL.com, the conversation was filmed on Sunday at a location that was not identified. The students are not named in this report, and the person filming is heard laughing during the exchange.
Hoover City Schools Superintendent Kathy Murphy told AL.com that the footage was sent to her around 11 p.m. Sunday. She said the district was “exceptionally sad and disappointed” by the remarks.
At a news conference at the school, Murphy said the students would not face discipline because the conversation did not take place on school grounds. She added that a situation like this, even when it happens off campus, can still affect the school, and that it shows the work the district has ahead.
The video prompted wide reaction online. The students involved had not publicly responded in the reports available when this story was published.

Lol there wouldn’t need to be a BLM movement if Black people weren’t always a Target. Maybe things would change if the folks that started it changed. Black people didn’t start racism. These lovely little humans (and I use that term lightly) are the epitome of white privilege. They are afraid to say it because it’s what they have been taught at home.
