Police in Bradenton, Florida arrested a man on a simple battery charge earlier this month after a dispute with his girlfriend, according to the NY Daily News and a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
Deputies who responded to the home found Kenneth and Ashley in what the report describes as a “verbal argument over refusal to role play.” According to the report, Ashley said she wanted to play “slave and slaver” because she is African American and Kenneth is Caucasian. The report says Kenneth did not wish to take part and became verbally aggressive.
The report says the argument escalated and Kenneth spat in Ashley’s face. Kenneth denied getting physical with her, according to the report. He was arrested and taken to the Manatee County Central Jail, as reported by The Smoking Gun, which obtained the document.
Ashley sees the incident differently. Police said she was not injured, and she refused to complete an affidavit and asked officers not to book Kenneth on any charges. She has since told Atlanta Black Star that officers exaggerated what she said and that she does not want him prosecuted.
Kenneth is scheduled to be arraigned on September 9. A battery charge is an allegation, and he has not been convicted of anything.
