A late night incident outside a Pittsburgh bar has left one man dead and another facing a homicide charge.
Shortly before 2 AM on Sunday, Aug. 19, police say a stabbing took place on North Shore Drive in Pittsburgh. According to VIBE, the suspect, 24 year old Joden, had posted a 16 second Instagram video before the incident saying he planned to play a game to see how many times he could say a racial slur inside a bar before being asked to leave.
Surveillance footage reportedly shows Joden trying to enter the Little Red Corvette bar at Tequila Cowboy and being turned away. Police say he then walked down North Shore Drive toward a PNC Bank, where he came across 24 year old Dulane and his friend Trei.
According to police, Joden appeared very aggressive in the footage and then, “all of a sudden,” approached the men. Police say Dulane and Trei tried to back away, and that Joden took an object from his pocket and walked toward Dulane out of view of the camera. Dulane was reportedly stabbed in the neck. The footage then shows Joden returning to the frame, putting an object back in his pocket and leaving the scene.
According to VIBE, Joden then tried to flag down a police car for a ride home. Officers took him into custody after witnesses identified him as the person involved.
Joden has been charged with criminal homicide and possessing an instrument of crime. He has not been convicted, and the charges are allegations at this stage. Reports also say an online petition has been started urging officials to pursue a hate crime charge.
