Earlier this week, shortly before 2 AM, tragedy struck on North Short Drive in Pittsburgh, after a white man attempted to cause a racial ruckus inside a bar.
Prior to the incident, according to VIBE, 24-year-old Joden Rocco uploaded a video to Instagram, revealing his intentions to cause controversy inside a Pittsburgh bar. In the 16-second clip, Rocco said he was going to play a game to see how many times he could say the N-word inside the establishment before being tossed.
On Sunday (Aug 19), Rocco was spotted on a surveillance camera attempting to gain entry to Tequila Cowboy’s Little Red Corvette bar. But, when he was denied, he made his way down North Short Drive toward PNC Bank, where he ran into 24-year-old Dulane Cameron Jr. and his friend, Trei Hendon.
In the footage, Rocco appeared to be “very aggressive,” as he began bouncing on the balls of his feet upon the encounter. Then, “all of a sudden,” according to police, Rocco launched to attack the men.
As Cameron and Hendon tried to back away, Rocco removed an object from his pocket, walked toward the men and out of view. That’s when, according to reports, Rocco fatally stabbed Cameron in the neck.
A few minutes later, Rocco walked back into frame, put an object in his pocket and fled the scene. According to VIBE, Rocco then attempted to flag down a police car for a ride home, but instead, the man was taken into custody, after witnesses identified him as the killer.
Rocco has since been charged with criminal homicide and possessing an instrument of crime. In the meantime, an online petition has been launched, encouraging officials to charge Rocco with a hate crime, since both men involved in the attack, were black.
