An Alabama woman has been arrested after authorities say her husband was shot during a road rage incident involving another driver.

According to the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, Nicholas was shot in the head on Saturday around 6:45 p.m. on Highway 69 in Dodge City, Alabama. The situation reportedly continued to a home on County Road 160 in Bremen. Nicholas was taken to UAB Hospital, where he was recovering in the intensive care unit as of Monday.

“During the incident, an altercation occurred in which, the offender, Erica, attempted to shoot a second party but shot her husband, Nicholas, striking him in the head,” Cullman County Deputy Brad Williams said in a statement.

Erica was arrested on charges of attempted murder, second degree assault, and reckless endangerment, according to the sheriff’s office. Her bail was set at $30,000, and she was being held at the Cullman County Detention Center. Charges are allegations, and the investigation was ongoing at the time of this post.
