Authorities in Florida say a woman was killed after she was mistaken for the intended target of a murder for hire plot.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Janice’s body was found Monday morning by a utility worker after her family reported her missing. Sheriff Russ Gibson said at a news conference on Friday that the suspects went after the 42 year old because of mistaken identity.
“I get emotional because it just touches me so deeply that one of our citizens was killed in such a manner over mistaken identity,” Gibson said. “In the end, it appears to be a lover’s triangle.”
Investigators say Ishnar allegedly wanted a woman killed who was connected to a man she was also involved with. Authorities say she hired Alexis and his girlfriend, Glorianmarie, to carry out the killing. Both the intended target and Janice worked at the same Ross Dress for Less store, according to the sheriff.
Gibson said the suspects followed Janice out of the store to her apartment, where they “forcibly put the victim into the back of her own vehicle, and then drove away.” Authorities say she was then made to hand over her debit card and information.
Detectives believe the suspects realized they had the wrong person but “continued with their plan of murder,” Gibson said. Officials say the cause of death was suffocation.
Police say they began tracking the suspects after the debit cards were used following the crime. Authorities say Ishnar was caught after a series of transactions and led them to the other two suspects. “All three confirmed this was a murder for hire and that the victim was mistakenly targeted and murdered,” the sheriff said.
Ishnar, Alexis and Glorianmarie have each been charged with first degree murder. Our thoughts are with Janice’s family and loved ones.
