A video of a woman walking in front of a slow moving car in Middleton Park in Leeds, England has gone viral, drawing about 1.6 million views.
In the clip, which was filmed and posted online by the driver, a man named Mark, the woman walks directly ahead of his car for about seven minutes. She turns around from time to time to speak to him. Mark captioned the video by saying he was permitted to drive on the road, and he asks her several times to step aside. According to the video, the woman answers that the path is for walking and that she came for a quiet walk. When he tries to edge around her, she moves back into his way.
Leeds City Council weighed in on whether he was allowed to be there. A council spokeswoman said Mark does not work for the council but is involved with a local enthusiasts group whose members have permission to drive through the park, as long as they follow agreed rules, including giving way to other park users.
The woman in the video has not been publicly identified, and no response from her was included in the reports at the time. The clip has sparked plenty of debate online over who had the right of way.
