A frantic search for a five-month-old is heating up following the abduction of him and his twin brother. While one baby has been safely located, the other remains unaccounted for.
The shocking abduction took place Monday night in Columbus, Ohio, shortly before 10:00 p.m. According to Columbus Division of Police Chief Elaine Bryant, the unidentified mother of twin boys Kason and Ky’air walked into Donatos Pizza to retrieve a DoorDash order. Mere seconds after she was inside the restaurant, a woman, identified as Nalah Jackson, was driving off with her twins. Authorities say Jackson was inside Donatos when the mother arrived and exited soon after observing the woman leave her vehicle unattended with the babies in the backseat strapped in their car seats.
An Amber Alert was issued hours later at 1:37 a.m. due to a mix-up with the vehicle’s description. Then, on Tuesday morning at 4:15 a.m., Ky’air was located at the Dayton International Airport, almost an hour and a half from where the twins were snatched. The baby was found in between cars in the airport’s economy lot by travelers, who took the baby inside as they waited for police. Sadly, Kason was not with his brother. The area nearby was canvassed, but there was no sign of him.
On Monday night, Jackson was spotted at a gas station driving the stolen black Honda shortly after the kidnapping. Cashier Emily Ryan at the United Dairy Farmers says Jackson was acting strangely and asked her for $5 to get gas. Ryan gave her the money, and the irrational woman disappeared inside the store’s bathroom before leaving out of the emergency exit. At the time, the store employee was unaware of the Amber Alert for the missing infants. However, once the notification came through on her phone, she immediately made the connection and called 911.
The twins’ grandmother LaFonda Thomas is pleading with Jackson to return the baby safely.
“Bring my grandson back to us. That’s all we ask of you,” Thomas stated.
Jackson is described as a homeless woman who previously faced charges of child endangerment with intent to cause harm, theft, and custody interference. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts or the location of Kason is urged to call police.
