A woman has been arrested in the Bronx after her boyfriend died following a stabbing at his mother’s home on Sunday evening, according to police and local news reports.
Police say Laura, 21, reportedly stabbed her boyfriend, Kedwin, with a kitchen knife during an argument. Police responded to a call about a stabbing, and Kedwin was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Laura reportedly called police herself.
According to police, the argument began when Kedwin asked for the passcode to Laura’s phone. Police say it escalated when he began throwing things at her.
Laura’s mother told reporters that her daughter was defending herself. “It was either her life or his,” she said, adding that she believes Kedwin had been abusive in the past. Those claims were made by her family, and police have not confirmed them.
Laura has been charged, and the case was just beginning at the time of this report. A charge is not a conviction, and the facts will be decided in court.
