A woman by the name of Juishan Hsu and her daughter are suing Princess Cruise Lines on claims that her husband Chun Chen contracted the coronavirus from one of its cruises and, as a result, passed away from the deadly virus.
According to court documents acquired by TMZ, Princess Cruise Lines exposed its passengers to COVID-19 on the Ruby Princess.
Juishan states that she and her husband began their cruise on March 8 and claims the company knew there was a novel coronavirus outbreak onboard, however, kept it a secret from passengers and proceeded with normal sailing.
Juishan insists that had her and her husband been made aware of the outbreak, they would have never even gone on the cruise and would have instead just gone home to be safe.
The documents also reveal that there were 3 coronavirus outbreaks on its cruises with one occurring a week before the Ruby Princess set sail.
According to Juishan, the company took very little precaution when it came to protecting their passengers from the virus. Aside from delaying boarding for six hours and giving passengers lunch vouchers so the onboard crew could disinfect the ship, she says the cruise line didn’t have a shelter in place quarantine protocol. She also claims passengers were kept in the dark about the severity of the issue, while the cruise line allowed ”the sailing to continue as if it were a normal cruise.”
Chen died from coronavirus complications on April 4, the outlet reports. Juishan and her daughter are seeking over $1 million in damages.
