A woman wanted in connection with a string of jewelry thefts in Florida has been arrested in New York, and authorities say her case is tied to the jewelry that went missing from NY Giants defensive tackle Shaun Rogers. She has not been convicted of anything.
According to the Associated Press, New York State Police arrested 25 year old Subhanna in Queens on Saturday, June 29, on fugitive from justice charges based on a Florida warrant. She was arraigned early Sunday. Miami Beach police had asked state police for help locating her. She was wanted on multiple larceny charges in which jewelry and cash were taken, and she was not immediately available for comment. A Giants spokesman declined to comment.
Rogers reported about $400,000 in jewelry missing in March from a hotel safe in Miami Beach, according to the AP. Local10 reported that police believe the women targeted men wearing expensive watches, often at clubs, and that a Broward Sheriff’s detective said some victims believed they had been drugged. That is the victims’ belief and has not been confirmed. Local10 also reported that three other women were wanted in the case, and that one of them turned herself in to Miami Dade police and was released on bond.
Baller Alert will update this story as the case moves forward.
