Rick Ross Says Bun B Is Still Touring The South, So 50 Cent Should Still Be Able To Rap

Ross answered 50's claim that he does not need to chase being the hottest rapper at his age, then said the G-Unit Reeboks did not sell out, which is a checkable thing ---

Rick Ross Trolls 50 Cent

Rick Ross has responded to 50 Cent saying he has no interest in making another album, and his answer was that 50 is not choosing to stop rapping, he simply cannot do it anymore.

50’s position has been that at this stage he does not need to be the hottest thing in rap. He has the catalog, the television business, the liquor, and a run most artists never get close to, so chasing a chart position is somebody else’s job now.

He pointed to Bun B, who is still filling rooms across the South decades in, as proof that age is not the thing stopping anybody. His argument is that a rapper should keep rapping as long as he is able to, and that the reason 50 is not putting albums out has nothing to do with not needing to.

He claimed the G-Unit Reeboks did not sell. Speaking on Instagram, Ross said a fan had agreed with him that the shoes were ugly and told him they did not know anybody who bought a pair.

The G-Unit x Reebok G6 dropped Thursday, August 20, a retro of the original 2003 white, red and blue colorway, priced at $130 and sold through Reebok, JD Sports and Finish Line. It sold out in about two hours.

50 did not let that sit. He posted a video smoking a cigar in the sneakers with a caption asking why the CO was so quiet now, a reference to Ross’s time working as a correctional officer, and said “sold out, fat boy.” He also credited New York for driving the demand and questioned whether anybody else could pull those numbers off support from somewhere else.

The original G6 launched in 2003 alongside Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and the Reebok partnership moved more than 3.8 million pairs, reportedly earning 50 north of $80 million. He has been pointed about the fact that he was involved in the design and marketing rather than putting his name on somebody else’s shoe.

All of this started with an album. 50 went after Ross over Set In Stone, which came out July 17 on Gamma and Maybach Music Group and debuted at number 39 on the Billboard 200 with about 19,000 equivalent units. For context on why that number stung, ten of Ross’s previous eleven solo albums landed in the top ten and five of them went to number one, including Port of Miami, Trilla, Deeper Than Rap, God Forgives I Don’t and Mastermind. Ross has answered by pointing to streaming figures that he says show no week to week drop, and at one point by showing off a property he valued at $100 million.
