According to TMZ, the incident happened on October 25, 2026, in the Beverly Hills business district. Footage obtained by the outlet shows an officer escorting Broner through a public area with his hands restrained behind his back. The officer then places Broner in the back of a police vehicle as several people stand nearby. Video of Adrien Broner handcuffed quickly circulated online, raising questions about what prompted officers to detain him.
While TMZ initially reported that the reason for the police encounter was unknown, additional reporting has offered a possible explanation.
KickChamp, a publication covering livestreaming personalities, reported that Broner was with streamer DeenTheGreat and content creator Bang Williams during a music video production in Los Angeles.
According to KickChamp, the group was reportedly filming with approximately 50 people when the production allegedly began interfering with traffic. Police were reportedly called after members of the group blocked portions of the roadway.
The outlet claims officers later stopped a van carrying members of the group after filming had concluded. Several people were reportedly ordered out of the vehicle and placed in handcuffs as additional officers arrived.
KickChamp identified Broner, DeenTheGreat, and Bang Williams among those detained during the encounter.
However, authorities have not publicly confirmed that the reported traffic obstruction was responsible for Broner’s detention. KickChamp also described the responding officers as members of the Los Angeles Police Department, while TMZ located Broner’s police encounter in Beverly Hills.
Neither report included an official police incident report establishing the precise reason officers stopped the group or whether the two accounts described every part of the same police response.
Despite the footage showing Broner being escorted into a patrol car, law enforcement sources told TMZ that the boxer was ultimately not arrested.
The outlet also reported that it remained unclear why Broner was released or whether officers issued him a citation. TMZ contacted police seeking additional information but had not received a response when its report was updated Monday morning.
Broner’s latest encounter comes as he continues building a presence in livestreaming alongside DeenTheGreat, whose real name is Nurideen Shabazz.
The two have collaborated on entertainment content and music while bringing their relationship with other internet personalities into the public eye.
Earlier this month, Kicks & Grips reported that Broner and DeenTheGreat released a diss track titled “Purple App Killa,” targeting popular streamer Kai Cenat. The October 15 release featured production from Hitmaka and arrived alongside a music video.
Broner’s transition into streaming follows a professional boxing career that included world championships across four weight divisions.
The Cincinnati native previously held titles at super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, and welterweight. His boxing career included high-profile matchups against opponents such as Manny Pacquiao and Mikey Garcia.
According to the World Boxing Council, Broner returned to the ring in June 2024 for a matchup against Blair Cobbs at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida. Cobbs defeated him by unanimous decision.
The former champion has also dealt with legal trouble outside boxing.
In August 2026, it was reported that Broner was facing a criminal trespass charge connected to an April 2024 incident at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Authorities alleged that he returned to the property despite receiving a lifetime ban in 2023.
Court filings showed that Broner’s attorney entered a written plea of not guilty. His legal team also challenged a bench warrant issued after he missed a scheduled court appearance. A Broward County judge set aside that bench warrant on August 31, 2026, after Broner’s attorney explained that a court notice had been sent to an outdated address.
That Florida case is separate from Sunday’s police encounter, and no reporting has established a connection between the earlier legal proceedings and his detention in California.
