More details are coming to light surrounding the felony strangulation charge and misdemeanor assault case involving Stefon Diggs, and the accusations are now tied to a former employee who says a dispute over money turned physical.
The accuser is described as Diggs’ former personal chef, who worked for the New England Patriots wide receiver beginning in July. According to her account, the situation escalated on December 2 after Diggs entered her unlocked bedroom to discuss wages she believed were overdue. She told authorities that the conversation quickly became aggressive.
As reported by TMZ, the woman claims Diggs smacked her and then “tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck,” saying she felt like she “could have blacked out” as pressure increased. She further alleges that Diggs threw her onto the bed afterward and said, “Thought so.” When she attempted to plead for the unpaid salary, she claims Diggs responded “Lies” before leaving the room.
The woman says her original agreement involved weekly pay, but the schedule later shifted to monthly payments. That change allegedly left her without a full month of wages at the time of the confrontation, which she says fueled the argument.
Diggs has denied the allegations through his attorney, David Meier, who issued a forceful statement calling the claims “unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and were never investigated — because they did not occur.” Meier also stated, “The timing and motivation for making the allegations is crystal clear: they are the direct result of an employee employer financial dispute that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction.”
Diggs is scheduled to return to court on January 23, where the case will continue to unfold.
