YFN Lucci has decided to proceed to trial in his racketeering case after rejecting a plea deal offered by Georgia prosecutors.

According to court documents, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis proposed a 20-year sentence for Lucci, with 17 years to be served in prison.  The plea deal required Lucci to plead guilty to several charges, including felony murder, racketeering, aggravated assault, and violation of the street gang terrorism and prevention act.

However, Lucci has shown no interest in accepting the offered plea deal.  His legal representatives, Drew Findling, and Gabe Banks, have deemed the proposal “ridiculous.” They have strongly suggested that the District Attorney is deliberately causing delays in the proceedings.  Findling and Banks pointed out that Lucci has been held in custody for over two and a half years, awaiting trial.

Furthermore, the attorneys criticized Willis for prioritizing recent high-profile cases, which they believe have consumed an excessive amount of the Court’s resources.  They also criticized her perceived incompetence in handling complex cases.

“While consistently facing obstacles that hinder Mr. Bennett’s constitutional right to a speedy and fair trial, we remain fully prepared to defend against these false allegations,” stated Lucci’s representatives.

In 2021, Lucci was indicted as part of a major case involving multiple alleged gang members facing various criminal charges.  Among the accusations, Lucci was specifically implicated as the driver in a fatal shooting connected to gang activity.  However, he has consistently maintained his innocence and denied any involvement in the incident.
