Yo Gotti is standing up for inmates currently incarcerated in Mississippi State Prison in a major way.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Gotti, whose real name is Mario Mims, is filing a lawsuit on behalf of nearly 30 Mississippi state prisoners who are being subjected to deplorable conditions within the prison.

The 38-year-old rapper was so outraged by the conditions that he demanded Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant to make changes for the betterment of those incarcerated. However, the Mayor does not seem to have complied. Therefore the lawsuit was filed.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ that were filed Tuesday in federal court, the prison system in understaffed, has raw sewage spilling onto the floor where some inmates are forced to lay due to a mattress shortage. In addition, the prison is experiencing water contamination, rendering its drinking water unsafe for inmates to consume.

The lawsuit is seeking damages for the inmates and would force Mississippi to address the growing issues.

Gotti enlisted Team Roc, the branch of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation that handles such injustices, and its secret weapon, high-powered attorney, Alex Spiro.

The conditions have allegedly lead to violent outbursts in the prison. In the first week of the new year, three inmates were stabbed to death. This, in part, is due to the fact that the prison is so understaffed, oftentimes, prisoners are not being monitored.

“We will not stop until this is fixed,” Gotti told TMZ.
