Young Dro - BALLER ALERT SHOW

In the latest episode of the Baller Alert Show, Ferrari Simmons, BT, and OCT welcome rapper Young Dro for an insightful conversation. Dro opens up about his struggles with drug addiction and his inspiring journey to recovery.

Dro reveals he entered rehab three years ago on April 16th. He credits his strong support system, particularly his manager, Dr. Sierra, a specialist in behavioral and mental health, for guiding him toward sobriety. He acknowledges the tough decision to cut off negative influences, replacing his smartphone with a flip phone to minimize distractions and information overload.

Dro also emphasized a turning point in his recovery: the realization that his drug use was impacting his relationship with his daughter. This wake-up call fueled his determination to get sober.

Despite past success creating hit songs while using drugs, Dro debunks the myth that drugs are necessary for creativity. He shares that the popular song “Shelin'” originated from him and his friends wanting to fit in on the dance floor, not because of drugs.

Dro also sheds light on the business side of music. Though “FDB” was a bigger song, “Shelin'” brought him more money due to the ringtone craze at the time.

Fans can look forward to Dro’s upcoming book, co-authored by his manager, Dr. Sierra, which is expected by the 25th of this month. The episode also teases future collaborations with rappers Zaytoven and T.I.
