Young Thug and Gunna are in deep trouble with the law after being arrested in a massive RICO investigation.

On Monday, Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis announced the 56-count indictment against the rappers along with other alleged members of the Young Slime Life Gang, also known as YSL. The indictment names 28 affiliates, many of whom face life in prison for the most serious offenses.

Thug, who uses the YSL imprint for his record label, has been charged with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and participating in criminal street gang activity as the supposed founder of the YSL Gang. He is also being accused of trying to get rival YFN Lucci killed while behind bars. Gunna, who is signed to YSL, has been charged with one count of conspiring to violate RICO for allegedly claiming the set in his music. Others in the indictment are being accused of more severe crimes such as theft, drug distribution, murder, and more.

YSL signee Yak Gotti and four others are being accused of the January 2015 murder of Donovan Thomas Jr., who prosecutors have called a rival gang member. Investigators say Thug rented the car used in that killing.

Willis also revealed that song lyrics could be used as evidence in the case, despite the First Amendment. Some of the songs in question include “Ski,” “Take It To Trial,” and “Slatty.”

“The First Amendment does not protect people from prosecutors using it as evidence if it is such,” District Attorney Willis said.

Willis is prepared to seek the maximum penalty for each crime.
