Young Thug’s father, Jeffery Williams Sr., didn’t mince words when he called out Atlanta artists who went silent during his son’s time behind bars.

When appearing on the Nothing But the Truth podcast, Williams Sr. expressed his frustration over artists who now want to connect with Thug—but were nowhere to be found while he was locked up.

“We got all these rappers trying to find Young Thug,” Williams Sr. said. “Where your ass been for 29 months? Why y’all as ain’t been out there protesting for his rights?” He took aim at the so-called “influencers” who didn’t influence a thing when it came to supporting his son.

He added, “Now, you want to talk to him. You want to put out these monkey-a*s videos for your personal gain, your personal hype…Where have y’all Atlanta artists been up until now?”

Though he didn’t name names, fans quickly speculated that Williams Sr. was talking about T.I., who had shared a video of himself with Thug after his release but reportedly declined an opportunity to support YSL in a meaningful way.

“I asked him to do an event on behalf of YSL,” Williams Sr. explained, “and I was told, ‘Let me get with my people and see if I can do that.’”

But after seeing the artist posting with Thug post-release, he added, “We gotta stop with the fake.”

Williams Sr. made it clear he’s not here for the empty gestures or “fake” support.
