Cardi B Says Her Own Circle Is Turning Against Her as Her Money Grows: “They’re Turning Me Mean”

Cardi B is realizing that reaching new heights in her career comes with an unexpected downside: jealousy from people she once believed were genuinely happy for her.

The Grammy-winning rapper recently took to social media to share an emotional revelation about her personal relationships, explaining that some of the people closest to her have seemingly become resentful of her growing wealth, accomplishments, and lifestyle.

“At the age of 34, I’m still learning lessons, and at this level of life right now, the [expletive] that I’m experiencing is jealousy,” Cardi explained. “I’m experiencing jealousy, and I’m experiencing people trying to humble me.”

What makes the situation especially troubling for the Bronx native is that she believes familiar faces, not strangers or industry rivals, are behind the negativity.

“It’s the people that have been around me,” she continued.

The “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker explained that although her financial circumstances have drastically changed, she still considers herself the same person. However, she is beginning to realize that not everyone views her success that way.

“I feel because I could afford practically everything that I want,” she said, before discussing how others perceive her extravagant lifestyle.

“Y’all might see that or somebody else might see that, but me, I see it as like I’m still just me and I’m still just I’m still just me.”

Cardi insisted that money and status shouldn’t determine the value of friendships, but she’s learned some people struggle to celebrate others’ achievements.

“Being successful, it’s, it’s so scary,” she admitted. “You just don’t know who’s genuine anymore. You just don’t know who got that secret animosity for you.”

The mother of four described feeling increasingly uncomfortable sharing exciting news because she fears people in her circle secretly resent her accomplishments.

“It’s like, you cannot even express, ‘Hey, I got a new, I, I got a new contract. I got a new, I got a new this, I got a new that’ because deep down, they’re, they’re, they’re upset that you’re getting it.”

She added, “It is so sad that [expletive] that you’re so [expletive] close with, [expletive] will go out of their way to humble you.”

Her comments arrive during another successful chapter of her career. Cardi’s sophomore album, “Am I the Drama?,” debuted atop the Billboard 200 in September 2025, while her 2026 Little Miss Drama Tour reportedly generated more than $70 million across 35 shows.

Her wealth has also been on display recently. Following her 34th birthday, Cardi showed off several extravagant purchases, including a rare Rolex reportedly worth $3 million, a seven-carat diamond ring, and a pink Hermès handbag.

However, the rapper suggested that the material rewards of her success have created unexpected tension in her relationships.

“I don’t feel depressed. I don’t feel sad. I don’t feel nothing. I’m starting to feel like I’m becoming an evil villain,” she revealed.

“I feel like I’m becoming an evil villain. Like I feel like I’m getting colder and meaner.”

Cardi admitted that the situation has made her question her own behavior, particularly when she finds herself becoming increasingly angry with people. She blamed those feelings on how she believes others have treated her.

“They’re turning me mean. They’re turning me [expletive] nasty.”

The rapper also expressed frustration over feeling unable to celebrate new opportunities, promotions, and business deals without worrying about someone’s reaction.

“You don’t even wanna talk about your promotion,” she said. “You don’t wanna talk about your happiness. You don’t even wanna talk about your deals.”

For Cardi, the experience has given new meaning to a familiar saying about fame and fortune.

“This is what it means when they say it’s lonely at the top. It’s [expletive] lonely at the top, and I see it.”

She also emphasized that she believes her career has reached an unprecedented level.

As her frustration intensified, Cardi said she was considering distancing herself from people altogether.

“I’m at the stage in life that I just wanna change my number and just go the [expletive] away.”

The video eventually took a darker turn when Cardi used violent language to describe her anger, declaring, “I don’t wanna see a therapist. I want these [expletive] to die.”

She also spoke about having thoughts involving violence when she becomes upset. However, she did not publicly identify anyone as the target of her remarks or disclose a specific plan to harm someone.

Despite the intensity of her statements, the central message of Cardi’s video was clear: she believes some people who once stood beside her are struggling to accept just how successful she has become.
