Tyler Herro custody battle with Katya Elise Henry

Tyler Herro and Katya Elise Henry

Katya Elise Henry claims her ex, Milwaukee Bucks guard Tyler Herro, sends her “aggressive” and “inappropriate” messages whenever she tries to talk about their two children, the latest turn in a Tyler Herro custody battle that keeps getting messier.

Herro, 26, built his name with the Miami Heat after being drafted in 2019, won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award in 2022 and was traded to the Bucks this offseason. Henry is a fitness model and entrepreneur known for Workouts by Katya, with more than 7 million Instagram followers. The two started dating in 2020 and share a daughter, Zya, 5, and a son, Harlem, 3.

According to new court documents obtained by TMZ, Henry says that when she reaches out about the kids, Herro typically responds in an “aggressive, inappropriate and emotionally charged manner.” She claims he violated a court order requiring the two of them to communicate respectfully, sending texts she described as “incredibly disrespectful and far from courteous or formal.” She also says Herro has taken the position that every conversation about the children has to go through his mother, a stance she called unreasonable and irresponsible.

Henry is asking the court to order Herro to keep his messages appropriate and to move all of their communication onto a court approved messaging app, the kind of co parenting platform that keeps a record of everything both parents send.

She also blames part of the tension on basketball. Henry says their issues have been compounded since Herro was traded from the Heat to the Bucks. He now lives in Milwaukee, while she remains in Miami with the children.

Herro has not publicly responded to the claims about his texts.

The Tyler Herro custody case has been building for months. The couple split in early 2025 after nearly seven years together, and Henry moved out shortly after. Both filed petitions in August 2026. Herro asked the court to set a formal parenting schedule and child support, while Henry described herself as the children’s primary caregiver and asked for primary custody. She also requested “safeguards and parameters” around Herro’s time with the kids, citing his “historical conduct” without naming any specific incidents. Herro denied that his custody should come with restrictions.

Last week, Henry pushed back on Herro’s account of his parenting. He told the court the children had stayed overnight with him after the breakup, but she says he used only a handful of overnight visits between March 2025 and the day she filed. She agreed that Herro has supported the kids since birth, but only when it comes to money.

Henry says it would be best for both parents to share responsibility for Zya and Harlem, as long as she has the final say on their health, education and extracurricular activities. With Herro starting his first season in Milwaukee, the Tyler Herro custody fight is now playing out across two cities.
