Zion Williamson and the Pelicans crushed the Toronto Raptors last night from start to finish. Williamson filled out the stat sheet in the 139-98 blowout victory, finishing the game with 16 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, two blocks, and a steal.
Williamson soared through the air last night early in the fourth quarter when the team was up 35 for a thunderous alley-oop.
He reminded everyone he was one of the best dunkers in the Association in case they forgot about dominance. He shared a telling revelation with the media after their victory.
“I gotta do my part and make the All-Star game,” Williamson told the media. “If I’m in the All-Star game, I’ll do the Dunk Contest. If not, I’m not doing it.”
Williamson could garner the interest of other highly touted dunkers in the NBA, like Zach Lavine and Aaron Gordon. Maybe next year, Williamson will dethrone two-time Slam dunk champion Mac McClung.
Until then, the Pelicans seem to be hitting their stride at the right time, with about 25 games left in the NBA regular season. Williamson’s health will determine his All-Star fate next year.
