Diddy Suddenly Transferred Out of New Jersey Prison, His New Lockup Has 3,000 Fewer Inmates

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been suddenly transferred to a new federal prison following a string of disciplinary violations, allegations of special treatment, and a mysterious head injury that required medical attention. However, the biggest question surrounding his relocation is whether prison officials are attempting to protect the disgraced music mogul from potential danger behind bars.

According to TMZ, the 56-year-old was moved from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey to FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania on Friday, October 16. The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed the transfer but did not disclose why Combs was relocated.

What makes the move particularly interesting is the difference in prison populations. Fort Dix houses approximately 4,000 inmates, while Allenwood has roughly 1,000. That means Diddy is entering a facility with approximately 3,000 fewer prisoners following a turbulent stretch at his previous lockup.

Both facilities are classified as low-security federal prisons, suggesting the transfer was not necessarily intended to place Combs under stricter security conditions.

Instead, the smaller population has raised questions about whether officials believe the Bad Boy Records founder would be safer in an environment where correctional officers may have an easier time monitoring inmates and preventing potential confrontations.

However, that explanation remains speculation. Federal officials have not confirmed whether security concerns, disciplinary problems, medical circumstances, or another reason prompted the decision.

The transfer comes less than a week after Combs reportedly suffered a head injury that required emergency medical treatment.

On October 10, an ambulance reportedly transported the music executive from Fort Dix to an outside medical facility around 1 a.m. Sources claimed he was conscious and communicating when he returned to prison later that morning.

The circumstances surrounding the injury quickly became controversial.

TMZ initially reported that Combs had been involved in a confrontation with Christopher “Dudus” Coke, a convicted Jamaican drug kingpin serving time in federal prison.

Sources alleged that tensions between the inmates developed after reports about Combs’ supposedly comfortable prison lifestyle triggered additional searches and contraband seizures.

However, the Bureau of Prisons pushed back against those allegations.

“We can tell you that the story you are referring to is false and did not happen,” a spokesperson told TMZ.

When asked about the circumstances surrounding Combs’ reported injury, the agency added, “We have no additional information to provide.”

Combs’ family has also disputed claims that he was involved in a fight with Coke, leaving the precise cause of the injury unresolved.

Beyond the medical emergency, Combs has reportedly accumulated several disciplinary violations during his incarceration at Fort Dix.

According to TMZ, prison officials previously cited him for unauthorized phone activity and fighting. Those violations reportedly resulted in two separate placements in the Special Housing Unit, where inmates can be isolated from the general prison population.

The consequences have also affected his privileges and projected release date.

Sources told TMZ that Combs lost 41 days of good conduct credit and 400 days of commissary privileges. Good conduct credit allows qualifying federal inmates to reduce the amount of time they must serve, meaning violations can have serious consequences for someone hoping to leave prison early.

His projected release date has reportedly shifted from January 21, 2028, to March 2, 2028.

The disciplinary trouble follows a September NBC News investigation alleging that Combs had access to several unauthorized luxuries while incarcerated.

The report claimed the music executive possessed a contraband cellphone containing nude photographs and had access to alcohol and elaborate meals. Other inmates allegedly provided personal services, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, and massages.

The allegations sparked scrutiny over whether the wealthy celebrity was receiving treatment unavailable to ordinary prisoners.

Combs’ representatives have disputed allegations surrounding his prison conduct, while the reports reportedly prompted additional scrutiny and searches at Fort Dix.

That attention may have created tension within the facility, particularly if other inmates lost access to prohibited items following the increased enforcement.

Nevertheless, no official connection has been established between those circumstances and Friday’s transfer.

The move also raises questions about Combs’ access to rehabilitation programs.

His legal team previously sought placement at Fort Dix partly because the prison offered a residential drug abuse treatment program. Successful completion of qualifying federal programs can provide certain inmates with opportunities to reduce their sentences.

Whether Combs will participate in similar programming at Allenwood remains unclear.

The latest developments are unfolding while Combs serves a 50-month federal sentence stemming from his 2025 criminal trial.

A jury convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution but acquitted him of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. His attorneys are continuing to challenge the conviction and sentence through the federal appeals process.

Although his new prison carries the same security designation as Fort Dix, the significantly smaller population is one of the most noticeable differences.

For now, federal officials have offered no explanation for the sudden relocation, leaving unanswered questions about the role his alleged misconduct and recent medical emergency may have played.

With Diddy’s prison troubles continuing to make headlines, the biggest mystery is whether his transfer is simply an administrative decision or an attempt to keep him out of further trouble before his anticipated release in 2028.
