Davido is bringing it home with a three night Lagos residency this December. The Afrobeats star announced Oriadé: The Residency on Friday, with shows set for December 17, 18 and 19 at the newly remodeled National Theatre in Iganmu.
“LAGOS!!! We bringing it HOME! 15 years of madness,” he wrote when he announced the dates.
The Lagos residency doubles as an anniversary party. December marks 15 years since Davido broke through with “Dami Duro” in 2011, the record that started his run to becoming one of the biggest names in African music. Each night will mix songs from his new album with the hits that built his career, and he has promised special guests throughout the run.
It will also be the first time Davido performs Oriadé live in Lagos. The 13 track album, his sixth, dropped in July with features from Leon Thomas, Black Sherif, Aya Nakamura, Mayorkun, Fola, Llona and more. Davido said the album has been putting up big numbers and fans are loving the records.
The timing is no accident. The shows land during Detty December, the stretch of the holiday season when Nigerians living abroad and tourists pour into Lagos for concerts, parties and time with family. Davido said that is part of what makes this one special, since he gets to be with his family and perform for his home crowd. “I’m just happy that we’re going to be able to do more back home,” he said.
Organizers say the Lagos residency is one of the first ever hosted by an Afrobeats artist in Nigeria. Nigeria’s biggest stars usually headline arenas overseas and come home for one big night. Three straight nights in one building is a different kind of bet on the home crowd.
Presale registration is open now, and tickets for the Lagos residency go on sale Friday, September 25.
Along with the announcement, Davido dropped a residency trailer and the music video for “On The Road,” built from a year of behind the scenes footage. It includes stops from his 5IVE ALIVE World Tour in Nigeria, Toronto and New York, plus Paris Fashion Week, his Coachella debut and the opening ceremony of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
