A 6-year-old Virginia boy is ready to give up the commercialized aspect of the Holiday season. In fact, he’s so fed up with the glitz and glamour of the fictional character, who is usually the focal point of a child’s Christmas spirit, that he wrote a letter to Kris Kringle, himself. Although the letter was part of an assignment for school, the little boy dragged the good ole’ Saint Nick to filth, saying he does not know his struggle.

“I’m only doing this for the class,” the boy wrote. “I know your notty list is emty. And your good list is emty. And your life is emty. You don’t know the troubles I’ve had in my life. Good Bye.”

Although the boy ends the letter with “love,” he refused to identify himself, adding, “I’m not telling you my name.”

The boy’s mother, Sarah McCammon, posted her son’s “Dear Santa” letter on Twitter, which quickly took the Twitterverse by storm. Shortly after, McCammon discussed her son’s Christmas spirit with reporters, explaining that she always taught her kids that Santa was “a fun story,” but Christmas presents come from real people.

“We’ve encouraged them to keep the truth about Santa to themselves at school,” she added. “Our son is creative and a bit precocious, so knowing his sense of humor, we thought it was hilarious,” she said of the incident but addressed the troubles her son mentioned in the letter.

“He said he was referring to his older brother – especially, we gather, the fact that his brother often beats him at video games,” McCammon said.
