Sidney Starr Denied Bond As Victim’s Mom Says 13-Year-Old Son Needs Intensive Therapy

Sidney Starr will remain behind bars after a Fulton County judge denied bond Tuesday in the reality television personality’s pending child sexual assault case. Starr, whose legal name is Sidney Favors, appeared in court on August 25 following her arrest earlier this month. The judge found Favors could pose a flight risk and a danger to others if released and also raised concerns that her large social media platform could potentially be used to interfere with witnesses.

The latest ruling keeps the Sidney Starr case centered in Fulton County, where Favors is facing felony charges of aggravated child molestation, sexual battery against a child under 16, and sodomy. Hapeville detectives took Favors into custody after responding to the Embassy Suites on International Boulevard on August 2. The allegations involve a 13-year-old boy, whose family reported the alleged assault.

New testimony at Tuesday’s hearing offered a more detailed account of what investigators say happened before the arrest. An investigator testified that Favors told detectives she had sexual contact with someone she identified as “Larry.” The investigator said “Larry” was actually a juvenile who later exited Favors’ hotel room and identified her to investigators. Favors acknowledged the juvenile had entered an elevator with her and later went into her hotel room.

Favors allegedly admitted to performing oral sex on the boy while describing the encounter as consensual. During Tuesday’s hearing, her attorney argued that the child approached Favors rather than the other way around.

The defense pushed for Favors’ release by emphasizing her lack of a serious criminal record. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that attorneys pointed to her general “good nature” and family connections while arguing that she was not a significant flight risk. CBS News Atlanta reported that the defense said Favors has no criminal history beyond traffic matters, has never failed to appear in court, cooperated with Hapeville police, and has lived in Chicago throughout her life. Her attorneys also said she has friends and extended family in Georgia.

Prosecutors argued otherwise. According to CBS News Atlanta, the state maintained that Favors’ limited Georgia ties, combined with the seriousness of the accusations, created a flight risk. Prosecutors also argued her television career and social media following could allow statements about the Sidney Starr case to reach the child, his relatives, or other people connected to the prosecution. The judge ultimately agreed with the state and ordered Favors held without bond.

The child’s mother also addressed the court and urged the judge not to release Favors. She described the emotional impact the allegations have had on her 13-year-old son and the rest of their family.

“He is required to attend intensive therapy to begin a healing process for what was done to him. At this age, when he should feel safe, innocent, and protected, he is now forced to cope with trauma that no child should have to ever endure,” the child’s mother said.

She later added, “We’ll do anything possible to remain strong for our child, but our family feels as though our sense of safety and normalcy has been taken away.”

The charges carry serious potential consequences if prosecutors ultimately secure a conviction. Under Georgia’s aggravated child molestation statute, as published by Westlaw and current through legislation passed during Georgia’s 2026 regular and first special sessions, aggravated child molestation includes child molestation that involves physical injury or an act of sodomy. The statute generally provides for life imprisonment or a split sentence requiring at least 25 years in prison followed by probation for life, subject to specific statutory exceptions.

The case marks a dramatic legal turn for a personality known largely through reality television. Starr appeared during season nine of “Love & Hip Hop: New York” and later appeared on “Baddies ATL” and “Baddies South,” along with programs including “Botched” and “Black Ink Crew: Chicago.” Her acting credits have included smaller roles on “Empire,” “The Chi,” and “Boomerang.”

With bond now denied, Favors remains in Fulton County custody while prosecutors move forward with the criminal case.
