Terry White, a 65-year-old Texas woman, is now facing criminal charges after not wearing a mask and then refusing to leave a Bank of America branch.Â
In Texas, the mask mandate is lifted, yet, businesses have free reign to mandate their own mask protocol. Bank of America is one company that decided to adopt a protocol.
When police arrived at the scene in Galveston, they first tried to be subtle.
Ma’am, if they ask you to leave, you have to leave,” the officer says in the bodycam video.
“My money is in this bank, and I’m going to take it out,” she replies.
“Well, then you have to abide by their rules,” the officer answered.
The banter continues back and forth. Eventually, the officer tells White, “we’re gonna do this the easy way or the hard way.”
“What are you gonna do, arrest me?” she replies.
White found herself in handcuffs soon enough, and according to the New York Post, she resisted arrest at first. The Post also reported she “accused the arresting officer of breaking her foot, was taken to a hospital for treatment.”
“Police brutality right here, people,” she yells.Â
White faces charges of criminal trespass and resisting arrest.Â
