A Baton Rouge assistant principal has been placed on administrative leave per the investigation of his alleged involvement in the homicide of 40-year-old Lyntell Washington and the killing of her unborn child.
39-year-old Robert Marks had his charges upgraded from aggravated kidnapping and child desertion to first-degree homicide and first-degree feticide after the severely decomposing body of Washington was found in a ditch last Tuesday. Washington had been missing for nearly a week when her body was discovered.
According to a co-worker, Washington, former Teacher-of-the-Year, taught at the school where Marks was assistant principal and was allegedly carrying the child of Marks, who happened to be married. She allegedly threatened to tell Marks’ wife about their affair.
The Probable Cause report states Washington’s child told investigators that ” ‘Mr. Robbie’ hurt her mother and was now sleeping.” The report indicates the child was with her mother when she heard a ‘bang’ and afterwards her mom was ‘shaking’. The toddler also stated it was dark when her mother was hurt and that she is in a lake. The 3-year-old was found near her mother’s blood-stained car.
According to Police, cell phone records show that both Washington and Marks were 25 miles west of Baton Rouge in a small part of Louisiana called Ramah around 9:45pm on Wednesday,June 8. Police documents state that both phones were in Ramah for approximately 15 minutes before returning to Baton Rouge.
