Man In Possession of Weapons & Explosives Arrested On His Way To L.A. Pride Festival

As if things couldn’t get scarier today, new reports have surfaced of a man, armed with explosives, headed to the L.A. Pride Festival in West Hollywood. This news comes just hours after Omar Mateen shot over 100 people, killing 50, at a gay nightclub in Orlando, FL.

Authorities in Santa Monica say that they have arrested a man after finding possible explosives,  assault rifles and ammunition in his car. According to the man, he was in town for the L.A. Pride Festival.

Police were tipped off after receiving a phone call of an alleged prowler near Olympic Boulevard and 11th Street. When police arrived, the man said he was waiting for a friend. Upon inspecting his vehicle, which had Indiana plates,  authorities found several weapons and a lot of ammunition as well as tannerite, an ingredient that could be used to create a pipe bomb.

It’s unknown if this individual has any ties to Mateen or the events that occurred in Orlando, but authorities have turned the investigation over to the FBI.
